[ There's not a single word he recognizes. Just what is going on here? ]
[ Laphicet just repeats the unknown word after her, puzzled about the whole situation. Dia isn't a person who would enjoy pranking others, so there's definitely something weird going on.
The table behind her is a great clue what she could mean, indeed. He comes closer, points at one of the plates and then at himself. ]
Is it for me? Breakfast?
[ He repeats the word again, just as slowly as Dia when she said it before. ]
[ He might not understand a single word, but not too long ago he's been taught that words aren't everything. Instead of sitting down, he walks over to the chair and takes it by its back, showing Dia that she should take her seat. He might need some help with pushing the chair closer to the table, but he'll worry about that later.
Laphicet's doing all that wearing a wide smile, too. Hopefully, that'll reassure her, even if just a bit! Although, he can understand how frustrating it is when you can't communicate. ]

[ If the words can't get through, maybe at least his intentions will! ]
[It does reassure her, and when Laphicet gets into his chair she will helpfully push it closer to the table. They didn't need words to communicate, right? Not all things needed talking.]

[ He even mimics the thumbs up despite knowing its meaning. Well, they can't talk normally, but maybe there's a way around it? Laphicet perks up suddenly and stretches his open palm forward like he'd like to tell her to wait for him for a moment. Shortly, he scurries to his own room to grab a piece of paper and something to write. When he's finally back, Dia will receive a short note: ]
